blogs and other things

I have a Friendster account and I’m currently working on a Multiply account. I have 2 blogs: on Blogspot and Multiply. They have exactly the same entries (yeah I know, it’s completely pointless). And just when I thought I am well-placed in the web community, I learned that Ria has about 4 (or 5? 6?) blog accounts. I think they’re updated on a regular basis and with different entries for each. Whoa. I haven’t seen all of them yet, though. So far I’ve seen the ones on Blogspot, Friendster, and Multiply (the latest I’ve seen). I have yet to see her 1UP, Livejournal, and God knows what else. HAHAHA! I know that she loves writing (she even took up journalism) but I never thought it’s this serious. Five blogs! With different entries! How sick is that? And despite all that output she’s always still frustrated about almost everything. Haha. The posts on her Multiply blog are easier to read. See, the one I occasionally read are her posts on Blogspot, which are bombarded with highfaluting words and most of the time are three times longer than a regular magazine article. I don’t have a vocabulary as wide as hers so I end up not understanding about a quarter of what she writes. For all you “smart” people out there who choose to read only smart posts, meaning sensible, with correct spelling and grammar, don’t worry because she’s very particular with those. I suck in grammar, so you know what I mean. BTW, my boss has a wrong perception that I write well (I think I’ve said this before) and I don’t know what the hell made him think so. So most of the time if there’s something that needs to be written down he points at me. Hey, I most definitely have no problem with that. Love my job. Screw and let screw.

Philippine Idol. Hokei... I watched it last week and also the week before that. The stage, ok. The judges, fair enough. But Ryan Cayabyab is the only one who makes sense most of the time. The contestants, there are 3 people who can actually sing. The host, well we all know that Ryan Agoncillo can host but I'm not sure if he can carry a show on his own. He's boring as hell. He asks the same questions, do the same spiels over and over again, and there were a lot of pauses. I'm not excellent in Filipino but is there such term as "ikakanta"? Ryan: "Anong ikakanta mo ngayon?". Isn't "kakantahin" the correct term? I don't know, I just think it sounds better.

Filipinos are so emotional and I hate it! Do they have to cry whenever a camera is pointed at them? What's with all the drama? It's a singing competition for chrissake. Also, don't expect Filipino viewers to vote for you just because your voice is phenomenal. As one contestant quipped, "Hindi naman 'to singing contest, pagandahan". EXACTLY. Filipinos are suckers for beauty more than talent. People voted for one contestant (I forgot his name but i think he's from Australia or US) to be a finalist even though he was painfully out of key during his performance. The judges were obviously surprised when he got in. This is PHILIPPINE idol. What did you expect?

But in all fairness, I'd rather watch PI rather than Pinoy Dream Academy of ABSCBN. The contestants there just mainly need attention. And notice the word "pinoy" in the title? Watch the show and you'll see a japanese contestant who speaks broken tagalog and couldn't even understand 3 sentences of straight verbal english. Go figure.
